Scientists have discovered fossils of horrific feathered dinosaur in northwestern New Mexico. That was a quick and frantic predator that could hunt down smaller prey or swarm larger prey in group attacks 67 million years ago.

And, It is judging from a telltale scar on one of its menacing sickle-shaped claws, this type of  Cretaceous Period dinosaur also fought with others of its own species.

Scientists announced the innovation of Dineobellator notohesperus on Thursday, a two-legged meat-eater that was comparatively small around 7 feet long and 3 feet tall at the hip, weighing 40-50 pounds. That Dineobellator lacked in size it made up for with Cruelty.

Dineobellator - that name means “Navajo warrior” to honor the Local American people local to the area - was part of the equivalent dinosaur lineage, dromaeosaurs, in Mongolia as the renowned Velociraptor that lived just a bit earlier.

“It was a speedy, active predator. Its nails would have been variant inches long and quite formidable, although rather than slicing through meat they possibly would be more useful for holding on to things,” said paleontologist Steven Jasinski of the State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg, who led the research published in the journal Scientific Reports.

A four-inch (10 cm) nails on its right hand had a deep gouge whose size and shape indicates the damage was served by another member of its own species.

“We hypothesize it was engaged by combat with another Dineobellator,” Jasinski said. “Oftentimes animals in groups fight and fray over several things usually resources like food, track, and even sunlight. It’s also probable this was a fight between two males over a mate, or female combatting off an invasive male when she might not feel prepared to mate.”

The dinosaur also had a split rib that healed, which Jasinski said: “not only suggests a hard life but also shows this dinosaur was able to live and deal with at least some hits.”

Dineobellator, armed with rows of cutting teeth, lived near the very end of the age of dinosaurs, about a million years before an asteroid impact eliminated them out, inhabiting a floodplain hunted with other dinosaurs with much larger predators and a variety of plant-eaters.

Roughly 25 percent of its frame was recovered, showing Dineobellator boasted evolutionary innovations setting it apart from other dromaeosaurs with upper grip capacity in its hands, enhanced flexion in its arms and a unique tail formation.
